Freshman Belen Mozo is tied for 20th overall after firing a team-best 73 to lead No. 7 USC during the second round of the 2007 Ping/ASU Invitational on Saturday (March 31) at the Karsten G.C. in Tempe, Ariz.

USC finished the second round in 10th with a combined 604 (306-298, +28), 39 strokes back of leader and host Arizona State (565, -11). The Sun Devils are 16 shots ahead of the next closest school, Vanderbilt.

Mozo moved up one spot into a tie for 20th at 147 (+3) after her 1-over 73 that featured a pair of birdies and three bogeys.

Senior Catalina Marin is tied for 36th at 151 (+7) after her second round 76. Junior Paola Moreno is a shot back at 152 (+8) after improving four strokes from her opening round effort with a 74.

Senior Veronica Felibert also made a four-stroke improvement from the first to second round with a round two 75, giving her a 154 (+10) overall, tied for 50th.

Freshman Caroline Kim is tied for 87th at 164 (+20) after her second round 83.

The team is playing without junior Dewi Claire Schreefel, who played as an amateur this week in the 2007 Kraft Nabisco Championship on the LPGA Tour at the Mission Hills C.C. in Rancho Mirage, Calif. She posted a 155 (79-76, +11) but didn't make the cut.
