Corvallis - The California Golden Bears suffered a sixth straight setback after a 6-0 loss at No. 16 Oregon State on Sunday.
Cal (23-19, 0-3 Pac-10) continues conference play at Stanford on April 5 at 7:00 p.m. The Bears then return home for two games against the Cardinal on Friday, Apr. 6 (3 p.m.) and Saturday, Apr. 7 (1:00 p.m.). Cal owns a 50-17 all-time series edge over Stanford. It will be the Bears' first game at Levine-Fricke Field since they defeated Loyola-Chicago back on Mar. 7.
Cal actually out-hit Oregon State in the contest, 6-5, but left three runners on base. Alex Sutton, Erika Racklin, Christina Schallig, Gina Leomiti, Vernae Sevilla and Julie Meyer all had one hit for the Bears. Lauren Frankiewicz suffered the loss in the circle for Cal to fall to 10-9 on the season. Frankiewicz allowed three runs on three hits with two strikeouts. Brittany LaRosa also saw action with 2.2 innings of work. Sevilla extended her hitting streak to four games after her single in the fifth.
Oregon State got on the board in the third inning with three runs off of Frankiewicz. After Mia Longfellow scored to give the Beavers a 1-0 lead, Sherina Galvan produced a double to left field to score Cambria Miranda and Natalie Johnson, boosting the OSU lead to 3-0.
The score remained 3-0 until the sixth inning when the Beavers added another three runs to increase their lead to 6-0. Lisa Hill provided the big hit with a three-run home run off of LaRosa.
