Cal Ties for 15th at PING/ASU Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. - California tied for 15th with Missouri with 54-hole scores of 928 Sunday at the PING/ASU Invitational at Karsten Golf Course. The Golden Bears finished the tournament the way they started it with a team score of 20-over 308.

No. 2 Arizona State won its own tournament at 13-under 851. No. 12 UCLA placed second at 873 (+9), and No. 16 Texas A&M grabbed third (874, +10). No. 6 Vanderbilt (875, +11), and No. 5 Pepperdine (877, +13) rounded out the top five of 17 teams.

Arizona State's Anna Nordqvist won the individual title at 10-under 206, while Stanford's Mari Chun was the runner-up at 208.

Sophomore Shannon Yocum led Cal by tying for 48th at 13-over 229 after pacing her team with a final round of 75. Yocum stood at even-par through the first 10 holes of competition today on her way to leading the Bears at a tournament for the first time in her career. Sophomore Allison Goodman tied for 51st at 230 following a final round of four-over 76.

Cal freshman Christina Frick tied for 61st (234), and freshman Sofia Janer tied for 64th at 235. Janer tied Yocum for team-high honors with three birdies today to propel her to her best round of the tournament (77). Janer started the day at one-over on the back nine. Bears freshman Roseanne Niven placed 89th (247).

Cal returns to action at the Dixie Classic April 3-4 in St. George, Utah. The BYU-hosted event will serve as the Bears' final preparation for the Pac-10 Championships April 23-25.
