April 1, 2007
Quarterback Mark Sanchez threw a pair of touchdown passes to highlight the USC football team's first intrasquad scrimmage at the midway point of 2007 spring drills on Sunday (April 1) on Howard Jones Field.
Sanchez, who was 8-of-16 on the day, hit wide receiver Patrick Turner for a 31-yard score and then found wide receiver David Ausberry for a 37-yard TD during the 97-play scrimmage. Turner caught 3 passes overall for 59 yards and Ausberry had 2 grabs for another 59 yards.

Wide receiver Jamere Holland caught a 22-yard scoring pass from quarterback Michael McDonald, who was 3-of-6 for 36 yards. Holland had 3 catches for 52 yards on the day, while fellow wide receiver Vidal Hazelton added 3 receptions for 33 yards.
Quarterback John David Booty was 7-of-13 passing for 84 yards, but threw an interception.
Placekicker David Buehler hit a 31-yard field goal, but also had a 42-yard attempt blocked and a 45-yarder fall short.
Linebacker Kaluka Maiava had 6 tackles, fellow linebacker Luthur Brown added 4 stops, defensive tackle Averell Spicer had a pair of sacks and recovered a fumble, cornerback Mozique McCurtis blocked a field goal, cornerback Cary Harris blocked a punt and linebacker Thomas Williams had an interception.
'We got some good work in,' said seventh-year head coach Pete Carroll. 'We were a little sloppy early on, but we picked it up and improved. It was obvious it was our first scrimmage of the spring. I thought our throwing and catching was off a bit. But we're off to a great start so far and have the makings of a terrific spring.'
Five-time defending Pac-10 champion USC concludes spring practice on April 14. The Trojan Huddle public intrasquad game will be held at the Coliseum at noon on April 7, with tickets available at the USC Ticket Office or at usctrojans.com. Troy opens its 2007 season against Idaho in the Coliseum on Sept. 1.
