Cal Places 11th at BYU Dixie Classic

ST. GEORGE, Utah - California placed 11th at the BYU Dixie Classic Wednesday with a 54-hole score of 934 at the Entrada at Snow Canyon Golf Course. The Golden Bears concluded the tournament with their best team score at the two-day event, carding a 16-over 304.

No. 17 BYU won its own tournament for the first time in 17 years with a score of 14-over 878. TCU claimed second-place, finishing 16 shots behind the Cougars at 894. No. 23 Denver took third at 897, and UC Irvine and No. 11 Arizona tied for fourth at 911 at the 15-team competition.

Sophomore Allison Goodman led Cal for the sixth time this season, tying for 16th at 10-over 226. Goodman wrapped up the tournament with a final round of even-par 72, which included eagles on two par-four holes (six and 15) and birdies on two par-four holes (four and seven).

Cal sophomore Shannon Yocum and freshman Christina Frick tied for 37th at 234, with the golfers firing a 74 and 76, respectively, today. Yocum and Frick each recorded three birdies in the final round. Freshman Roseanne Niven tied for 58th at 240, and senior Danielle Nash placed 74th (253) for the Bears.

Arizona's Alison Walsh won the individual crown at two-under 214 after posting a 67 today for the tournament's low round. Denver's Stephanie Sherlock claimed second place at 216.

The Bears return to action at the Pac-10 Championships April 23-25 in Seattle, Wash.
