Cougar Women Shake Off Slump at Peg Barnard

STANFORD, Calif. - After a much improved second day of play the Washington State Women's Golf Team shot a second round score of 287 and garnered a seventh place finish at the Peg Barnard California Collegiate, played on the par-71, 6,037 Stanford Golf Course.
'We played a lot better today,' said Head Golf Coach Walt Williams. 'I think we finally broke out of that sleepwalk state we were in and finally played some really good golf.'
Junior Tracy Broders grabbed the highest finish for the Cougars, completing the tournament in 11th. Broders shot a 72 in the second round to give her a final score of 145 (+3), only one stroke away from the top-10. Joining Broders in the top-25 were freshman Diana Hong and sophomore Jessica Black. Both players finished with a score of 150 (+8) and in a tie for 23rd.
Sophomore Amy Eneroth, who began the tournament by shooting a first round score of 80, vastly improved in the second round by shooting a 71. Eneroth finished in 27th with a score of 151 (+9), just one stroke out of the top-25. Junior Brooke Henderson also improved her play in the second round by shooting a 73. Henderson completed the tournament with a score of 153 (+11).
'Everyone really played well today,' Williams said. 'Now we have two weeks to practice and rest up before we head to the Pac-10 Tournament.'
The women will be competing in the Pac-10 Championship beginning Monday, April 23, and ending on Wednesday, April 25. The tournament will be held in Seattle, Wash.
