Brad Boxberger Named Pac-10 Pitcher Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- USC freshman right-handed pitcher Brad Boxberger has been named Pitcher of the Week for April 3-9, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Boxberger (Foothill/Tustin HS) allowed just one run on three hits and a walk, while striking out five in seven innings during Friday;s 4-1 win at No. 9 Oregon State. The freshman All-America candidate made his fifth quality start of the season and now possesses a 1.46 ERA in six road starts this season. Overall, he is 2-2 with a 2.13 ERA on the season.

The Pitcher of the Week honor is the first for Boxberger and marks the 59th selection all-time for USC.

USC plays at No. 18 Cal State Fullerton on Tuesday before hosting UCLA in a Pac-10 Conference series, beginning on Friday at 7 p.m. Boxberger will make the start on Friday, his first start as USC's No. 1 starter.
