No. 9/11 Women's Track Hosts RJ/JJK Invite Thursday through Saturday

Jeanette Bolden and the No. 9/11 women's track and field team will host the fifth annual Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational this Thursday through Saturday at Drake Stadium as over 1000 athletes and over 25 universities are slated to compete. The meet features a heptathlon and decathlon on Thursday and Friday (the first time this meet has hosted a multi-event competition), distance carnival Friday night, open/college events on Friday and an invitational section on Saturday.
The namesakes of the meet, Rafer Johnson and Jackie Joyner-Kersee will be in attendance on Saturday as they are honored during the invitational section of the meet.
Several former All-American Bruins will be in action this weekend including Cari Soong, Lara Saye, Ysanne Williams and current volunteer throws coach Jessica Cosby. French Olympian and World Champion Eunice Barber will also compete this weekend.
Watkins, the 2007 NCAA Indoor long jump champion and top-ranked jumper in the world this year, will open up in the high jump on Saturday. Last season, Watkins competed at the NCAA Outdoor meet and jumped a lifetime-best 6-0.25 during the summer for Trinidad and Tobago at the junior meet.
Bohannon will compete in the 1500m, along with 2006 outdoor All-American Ashley Caldwell. Bohannon currently ranks ninth in the nation in the 800m, while Caldwell holds the 16th-best 1500m time.
The RJ/JJK Invite will also mark the final home meet for several senior Bruins - Ashley Caldwell, Kiyoko Guillory, Allison Hall, MacKenzie Hill, Sarah Ingram, Shannon Lewis, Jacqueline Nguyen, Jenna Timinsky (who is not competing this year due to injury), and Kamaiya Warren.
