Ninow Places 2nd in Hammer; Reuter Stands in 4th in Decathlon at RJ/JJK Invite

Senior Andrew Ninow threw a season-best mark in the hammer throw to finish second overall, while sophomore Matt Reuter stands in fourth-place in the decathlon on day one of the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational.
Ninow's mark of 199-3 improved on his regional qualifying throw by over two feet as the senior finished second overall. Teammate Boldizsar Kocsor finished third with a mark of 198-9.
In the inaugural decathlon competition, sophomore Matt Reuter finished day one in fourth-place with a five-event total of 3,331 points. Also in the decathlon, twin brothers Casey (3,275 points) and Scott (3,183 points) DiCesare and Andreas Drbal (3,098 points) posted season-best day one totals.
Reuter ran a lifetime-best 11.50 in the 100m (753 points) and jumped a lifetime-best 21-6 (709 points) in the long jump. He posted a mark of 34-2.50 in the shot put (530 points) and equaled his lifetime-best in the high jump with a mark of 6-3.50 (731 points) to end the day with 3,331 points.
Casey ran a season-best 11.50 in the 100m (753 points) and notched a season-best 20-9.25 (659 points) in the long jump. He also threw a season-best 38-6 (590 points) in the shot put. He ended the day with a high jump mark of 5-9.75 (602 points) and a 400m time of 53.24 (671 points) to end the day with 3,275 points.
Scott also ran a season-best 11.40 in the 100m (774 points) and jumped a season-best 20-9.75 (661 points) in the long jump. He posted a season-best 40-2 in the shot put (621 points), cleared 5-3.75 in the high jump (480 points) and finished the day with a 400m time of 53.83 (647 points) for a five-event score of 3,183 points.
Drbal ran a season-best 11.40 in the 100m (774 points) and jumped a season-best 20-10 in the long jump (664 points). He threw a season-best 35-2.50 in the shot put (530 points), jumped a season-high 5-5 (504 points) in the high jump and ran 54.34 in the 400m (626 points) for a first day score of 3,098 points.
Competition continues on Friday with the final of the decathlon, open/college events and a distance carnival in the evening.
