Johnson Wins Hammer at Brutus Hamilton Invitational

BERKELEY - California senior Carrie Johnson posted an NCAA regional-qualifying 210-9.5 (64.25 meters) to win the women's hammer throw at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational on Friday at Edwards Stadium. Golden Bears junior John Ludden also recorded a regional qualifier in the men's hammer with a toss of 194-3 (59.22) to take third.
Johnson hit her mark with her third attempt of the day.
Former Bears star Travis Nutter won the men's hammer with a throw of 237-2 (72.30).
The Brutus Hamilton Invitational concludes tomorrow with the bulk of the meet's events, starting at 10:30 a.m. with the women's pole vault.
