No. 13 UCLA Comes Back To Beat No. 8 Cal

LOS ANGELES - No. 8 California lost its second match of the weekend on Saturday to No. 13 UCLA, 4-3, at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. The Golden Bears suffered defeat despite holding a 3-1 lead.

After losing all three doubles matches, Cal (19-5, 5-2) got right back into the match when it won the first three singles matches. No. 19 Nina Henkel won her 10th match in a row, knocking off Ashley Joelson, 6-2, 6-2.

The other two Cal wins came by Stephanie Kusano on the fourth court and Claire Ilcinkas on the sixth court. Kusano beat Elizabeth Lumpkin, 6-4, 6-1. Ilcinkas defeated Stephanie Wetmore, 6-3, 6-0.

UCLA tied the match at three when it won the singles matches on the top two courts. The match was decided on the fifth court where Marion Ravelojaona fell to Anna-Viktoria Lind, 6-2, 6-4.

The Bears return to the Hellman Tennis Center for the final match of the regular season next Saturday. Cal faces top-ranked Stanford at noon.
