STANFORD, Calif. - The Washington State Men's Golf Team produced a second day of solid play to finish the U.S. Intercollegiate, played on the par-70, 6,742 yard Stanford Golf Course, with a ninth place standing.

'We went into this tournament expected to finish 12th,' said Head Golf Coach Walt Williams. 'Therefore, to come out with a ninth place finish is a good thing.'

Freshman Austin Hurt shot a third round score of 76, ending the day with a total score of 224. Finishing one stroke behind Hurt was freshman Kevin Tucker, who shot a 71 in the third round and finished the competition with a score of 225. Freshman Nick Grigsby completed the tournament with a score of 232.

'We played some good rounds today,' Williams said. 'We beat some teams that were ranked ahead of us, and we have some confidence built up going into the Pac-10 tournament.'

As a team the Cougars finished with a score of 875 to keep them in the top-10.
