Rowing Crews Come Up Short At Windermere Classic

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. - The Washington State University women's rowing team was unable to overcome a tough Virginia team at the Windermere Real Estate Rowing Classic, Sunday. Virginia did not have a boat lose a race over the weekend.
The varsity four, which had the strongest showing Saturday, fell behind Virginia early and was unable to make up the difference. The WSU varsity four boat completed the race with a time of 8:08.40, almost 13 seconds behind Virginia's time of 7:55.72.
The Cougar varsity eight kept the race close against the Virginia Cavaliers, but came up short. WSU finished the course with a time of 6:51.29. Virginia posted a time of 6:44.92, more than five seconds ahead of WSU.
The No. 14 WSU varsity eight was unable to keep up with No. 13 Virginia. The Cougars finished the race in 6:59.91, more than ten seconds behind the Cavaliers time of 6:49.36. This was the third loss of the weekend for WSU, while the Virginia varsity eight won all three races.
The varsity four performed well on the water in competition, Saturday. The crew posted wins over Central Florida and Tennessee. The second varsity split its races against UCF and Tennessee. The WSU varsity eight kept it close but was unable to beat either opponent.

The Cougars do not race again until Saturday, April 28, when they travel to Oregon State.
