Warren and Bohannon Lead Bruin Women in San Diego

Senior Kamaiya Warren threw a season-best and a top-10 national mark in the shot put, while Allie Bohannon won the 1500m to lead the Bruin women at the UC San Diego Triton Invitational in La Jolla.

Warren threw a season-best 53-4.25 to finish seventh overall (third-best collegiate) in the shot put, improving on her season-best by over a foot. That mark ranks as one of the top-10 in the country in the most recent national rankings.

Bohannon ran 4:28.73 to win the 1500m, as several Bruins performed well in the four lap event. Sophomore Lauren Jirges placed third in a time of 4:32.37, junior Claire Rethmeier was fourth in a time of 4:32.75, and senior Allison Hall ran 4:32.90 to finish fifth.

In the 400m, graduate student Johanna Monthe missed the regional qualifier by .01 seconds, running a season-best 54.62 to place fourth overall.

Senior Jacqueline Nguyen and junior Ingrid Kantola tied for fourth in the pole vault as both cleared 13-1.50. In the long jump, junior Georgea Richards finished sixth with a mark of 18-7.25.

In the 800m, sophomore Gabrielle Bournes finished seventh in a time of 2:14.32.

Up next for the Bruins...
UCLA will head to the campus of USC for the annual dual meet next weekend. The hammer throw competition will be held on Friday at West LA College with the remainder of the meet running on Saturday.
