Cougar Women End First Day of Tournament in Eighth Place

SEATTLE, Wash. -At the end of the first day of the Pacific-10 Championships, played on the par-72, 6,196 yard Broadmoor Golf Club golf course, the Cougar women sit in eighth place with a score of 317 after one round of play.

The Cougars are led by junior Tracy Broders who shot a 78 (+6) in the first round and currently sits in a tie for 17th. Junior Brooke Henderson also shot a 78 (+6) to join Broders in 17th. One shot behind her teammates is sophomore Amy Eneroth, who finished the day with a score of 79 (+7) and is tied for 23rd.

Sophomore Jessica Black completed her first round with a score of 82 (+10) and is tied for 34th, a mere three strokes out of the top-25. Rounding out the Cougar lineup is freshman Diana Hong who is tied for 36th with a first day score of 83 (+11).

Arizona State hold the lead in the tournament after the first day of play. The Sundevils shot a 297 and are presently uncontested for first place. Coming in second for the day was Southern California with a score of 303. UCLA is just two strokes behind their southern counterpart with a score of 305 and a third place finish.

The women will continue the 54-hole tournament tomorrow morning with a tee time of 9 a.m.
