Cal Remains in Sixth after Second Round of Competition at Pac-10 Championships

The California Golden Bear women's golf team carded a second round score of 311 to remain in sixth place in the second day of competition in the Pac-10 Conference Championship at the Par 72, 6196-yard Broadmoor Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon. After two rounds, Cal has a total team score of 623.
Arizona State maintained its lead atop the leaderboard with a second round total of 300 (597 overall), followed by UCLA (299-604), Arizona (304-613), USC (311-614), and Washington (308-621).
Freshman Sofia Janer and sophomore Allison Goodman continued to pace the Bears in the second day of action, as Janer posted a four-over 76 (six-over for the tournament), while Goodman carded a six-over 78 for the day (seven-over for the tournament).
Janer sits in eighth place, while Goodman is tied for ninth.
Janer began the day bogeying the par-five first hole, but rebounded to make par on holes two thru five, before registering a birdie on the par-five sixth to remain even. Janer made par on seven and bogeyed eight and nine to go to two-over on the front nine. Janer had a string of six straight pars on the back nine, before settling for bogey on the par-five 18th to finish her round.
Goodman struggled at the start of the day, recording bogies on the first four holes, before rebounding with a birdie on the par-five sixth. Goodman went on to par the next three holes to finish the front nine four-over. On the back nine Goodman recorded par on holes 11-16 to finish her round six-over.
After posting a seven-over par in the first round of competition, sophomore Shannon Yocum carded four-over 76 on Tuesday to move to 11-over par for the tournament. Yocum birdied nine to finish the front nine at two-over, before nailing birdie putts on 13 and 15 on the back nine to finish four-over.
Cal begins third round action tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
