COUGARS VS. HUSKIES TRACK & FIELD DUAL MEET: The 96th meeting of the Washington State University and University of Washington men's track and field teams and 32nd meeting between women's teams will take place Friday, April 27, at Husky Stadium in Seattle...according to WSU records, the WSU men hold the advantage in the dual series with a 60-34-1 record...UW women have an 19-12 lead in the dual dueling, but the Cougar women have won nine of the past ten meetings with the Huskies winning in 2004...last year in Pullman, the Cougar women defeated UW 111.5 - 91.5, while the Husky men were 112 - 91 winners over Cougars...using season-best lists and past performances, the 2007 meet is predicted to finish with a WSU win on the women's side and a very tight contest on the men's side...complete results will be posted upon meet completion at

DUAL MEET SCORING: Individual scoring for the WSU-UW dual meet will be 5-3-1 for individual events and 5-0 for relays...the meet event schedule is included at the end of this release.

THREE FOR THREE FOR GARBERG: Junior McKenzie Garberg won all three events she competed in at the Cougar Invite April 21...reached first place in the shot put, discus and hammer, all with NCAA Regional Qualifying marks...threw the shot put a PR distance of 48-3 1/2 (14.72m), threw the discus 159-8 (48.68m), and tossed the hammer 194-9 (59.37m), a PR by four feet and improved NCAA RQ and the second-farthest throw in school history...her shot mark is 9th best al-time, and her 2006 discus mark of 50.62m/166-1 is seventh.

ABOUT THE COUGAR COACHES: Head coach Rick Sloan is in his 34th season with the Cougar track program; 13th year as a head coach, 12th year as mentor to the combined men's and women's program...he is joined by associate coach Debra Farwell, and assistant coaches Jason Drake (Head Coach Cross Country), Mark Macdonald, Ellannee Richardson and Matt McGee...volunteer coaches included former WSU All-American pole vaulter Tamara Diles, Bob Frey and Luan Weeks.

Diana Pickler BREAKS SCHOOL HURDLES RECORD THREE STRAIGHT WEEKS: Senior heptathlete, four-time All-American and co-captain Diana Pickler broke her own 100m hurdles school record for the third consecutive week April 4, at the Texas Relays...Pickler ran a time of 13.42 at the Trojan Invite March 24, then clocked in a time of 13.31 at the Stanford Invite March the opening event of the heptathlon at the Texas Relays, Pickler ran a time of 13.28...she has reached NCAA Regional Qualifying in five events and leads the nation with her NCAA Automatic Qualifying mark in the heptathlon.
