San Jose State Ends Eight-Game Skid Against Stanford, 11-8

Stanford, Calif. - San Jose State (25-17) ended an eight-game losing skid against Stanford (16-21) dating back to 2002 with an 11-8 victory over the Cardinal in a non-conference game at Sunken Diamond on Tuesday evening. The Spartans trailed 5-1 after two innings before the next 10 runs of the game, including six in the top of the fifth inning. Marcus McKimmy (4-6) was one of six Spartans with multiple-hit games as all nine San Jose State starters had at least one of the team's 18 hits.
Sean Ratliff (4-5, 2B, 3B, RBI) had a career-high four hits for the Cardinal and also scored three runs.
San Jose State reliever Brandon Hennessey (5.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 SO) picked up the victory to improve to 4-0 on the season, while Steven Vidal (1.0 IP, 1 H, 2 SO) pitched the ninth to earn his first save of the campaign.Stanford reliever David Stringer (0-2) took the loss, allowing five runs on five hits while recording just two outs.
Stanford continues its current six-game homestand by hosting Fresno State in a non-conference contest on Wednesday, April 25 (3 pm, PT), before welcoming defending College World Series champion Oregon State (Friday-Sunday, April 27-29, 7 pm, 1 pm, 1 pm, PT) in a three-game set and concluding with a non-conference contest against Santa Clara on Tuesday, May 1 (6 pm, PT). The first two games of the Oregon State series will be televised live by Fox Sports Net and CSTV, respectively.
