Second Annual Tommy Athletic Awards Set For Monday
April 25, 2007
Another USC athletic tradition is gathering momentum as the second edition of the Tommy Athletic Awards is set to take place at 8 p.m. on Monday (April 30) at the Galen Center Founders' Room. Honoring the outstanding achievements of USC student-athletes, the Tommy Awards debuted last year. This year, the ceremony continues to recognize the accomplishments - both academic and athletic - of Trojans during the 2006 seasons.
The 2006 Tommy Athletic Awards have been organized by members of the Student Athlete Advisory Council (S.A.A.C.). Executive producer Kelli Tennant (women's volleyball) and director Kat Stolpa (women's soccer) have been working alongside S.A.A.C. reps, Student-Athlete Academic Services and the rest of the USC athletic community to put together this year's deserving nominees. Winners are voted on by USC student-athletes and staff members.
'It's an exciting tradition that we're trying to build,' Stolpa said. 'The awards are a great way for student-athletes and and the entire athletic department to come together and show each other how much we respect and appreciate what we all do here at USC.'
Hosted by former Trojan football player and the 2005 Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Brandon Hancock, the 2006 Tommy Athletic Awards recognizes USC teams, athletes and coaches for their successes and strengths in 2006. Awards include Male and Female Team of the Year, Scholar-Athletes of the Year, Most Outstanding Comeback, Most Spirited Team and Coach of the Year, among others.
Join the USC athletic community for the 2006 Tommy Athletic Awards next week. The ceremony begins at 8 p.m. on Monday, April 30, at the Brian & Susan Kennedy Founders' Room in the Galen Center.
