Babos Will Play for Pac-10 Title

OJAI - Junior Susie Babos advanced to the final of the singles draw in the Pac-10 championships on Saturday. In addition, the doubles team of Claire Ilcinkas and Bojana Bobusic will compete in the final of the doubles invitational draw tomorrow.

Babos, currently ranked fourth in the ITA singles rankings, knocked off Stanford's Celia Durkin, 6-4, 6-4, to move on to the final. In tomorrow's championship match, Babos will face Lindsey Nelson from USC. Nelson was the player Babos defeated last year in the final of the NCAA championships. This season, the two met both times the Golden Bears and the Trojans squared off against each other, with each player winning on their home court.

In doubles, one of Cal's three doubles teams competing advanced. Ilcinkas and Bobusic beat Anastesia Opata and Bianca Selaru from Washington State, 8-0. In tomorrow's championship match, the Bear tandem faces Laila Abdala and Rebecca Rankin from Arizona State.

Babos will play first for Cal tomorrow, with her championship match starting at 9:30 a.m. The doubles match begins at 11 a.m.
