April 30, 2007
PULLMAN, Wash. - Stephen Sauls has signed a National Letter of Intent to play men's basketball at Washington State University beginning next fall, Cougar Head Coach Tony Bennett announced, Monday.
'Stephen will provide needed depth to the backcourt with the departure of Mac (Hopson) and Chris (Matthews),' Bennett said. 'He addresses a need for out team with his playmaking ability and defensive mindset. Hopefully, his year at the Air Force Prep Academy has prepared him for the rigors of being a successful student-athlete. Once he met our players and saw the campus, he knew Washington State was the place for him.'
The 6-foot-3, 195-pound guard was the Air Force Prep Academy's second leading scorer at 13 points per game last season and helped lead the squad to a 20-10 record. Prior to spending the 2006-07 season at Air Force Prep Academy in Colorado Springs, Sauls attended Marshall High School in Missouri City, Texas.
