Tennis Teams Selected to Host NCAA Regional Action May 11-13

LOS ANGELES - Both the UCLA men's and women's tennis teams were selected to host 2007 NCAA Regional action, as the 64-team NCAA Championship draws for both events were released on Tuesday. The Bruin men, which earned an automatic bid for winning the Pac-10, were selected as the No. 9 seed, while the at-large UCLA women are seeded 12th.
Men's action will kickoff regional play at the LATC next week, as Virginia Commonwealth (18-8) takes on Texas Tech (13-9) on Friday, May 11 at 10:00 a.m. That match will be followed by ninth-seeded UCLA (19-3) vs. UNLV (13-13) at 1:00 p.m. Friday's winners will meet in the second round on Saturday at 3:00 p.m., with the winner advancing to the round of 16 in Athens, Ga. the following week.
Women's regional action gets underway on Saturday, May 12, with Florida State (15-7) facing San Diego State (14-11) at 9:00 a.m. That match is followed by 12th-seeded UCLA (16-7) vs. Quinnipiac (11-6) at Noon. Sunday's second round will begin at 3:00 p.m., with that winner also advancing to the round of 16 in Georgia.
Tickets for the regionals are $7 for adults and $5 for youth/students with valid identification. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance to the LATC the day of the event.
