KICKS Against Breast Cancer Tournament: A Success!
May 2, 2007
Stanford, Calif. - The Cardinal women's soccer team hosted the second annual KICKS Against Breast Cancer Tournament last weekend, and the event proved to be just as successful as the first. Donations can still be made by emailing Sarah Kate Noftsinger at email@example.com.
Stanford kicked off the day against local rival Santa Clara and netted two second half goals to pick up the win. Freshman Kristin Stannard scored the first goal on a penalty kick, before sophomore Austinn Freeman drilled in a shot from the top of the box to make it 2-0.
The squad played Oregon to a 0-0 tie in the second game, before a goal by sophomore Allison Falk lifted the Cardinal to a 1-0 win over San Francisco in the third game.
The championship match between Stanford and Oregon resulted in another 0-0 tie, the third between the two teams in three days. The Cardinal and Ducks tied 2-2 in a spring match on Thursday night.
Stanford will continue the spring season against Nevada on Saturday at 1 p.m.
