May 3, 2007

Stanford, Calif. - Stanford freshman Alicia Jenkins has been named to the U.S. Under-20 Women's National Team that will head to England for three matches next week. Jenkins was one of six forwards on the 17-player roster.

Jenkins, a 2006 All-Pac-10 Freshman selection, started all 23 games for the Cardinal as a freshman last fall and was one of the most versatile players in the line-up, making appearances at all three field positions.

Jenkins and the U-20 squad will head to Manchester, England tomorrow and will play three matches against top English women's clubs beginning Tuesday. The trip is part of the build-up to the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup that will be held at the end of next year in Chile.

The U.S. team meets the Everton Ladies Netherton on May 8, the Leeds Ladies Harrogate on May 10 and the Blackburn Ladies Clitheroe FC on May 12.
