Golden Bears Stop Softball's Streak

LOS ANGELES - UCLA had a solo home run from Jaisa Creps but was unable to pus any additional run across the plate, falling by a 3-1 margin to California on Friday afternoon at Easton Stadium. The Bruins fall to 33-14 (9-7 Pac-10) while Cal improves to 31-27 (5-11 Pac-10).
The Golden Bears pushed across three runs in the top of the third inning on an RBI double from Alex Sutton, an RBI triple from Erika Racklin and a seeing-eye squeeze bunt double by Gina Leomiti to take a 3-0 lead.
In the bottom half of the frame, Jaisa Creps answered with a two-out solo home run to left field, cutting the Bears lead to two runs at 3-1.
The Bruins threatened in the fifth and sixth innings but were unable to push any additional runs across the plate, stranding seven in the defeat.
Anjelica Selden got the loss for the Bruins, pitching two and a third innings before being relieved by Megan Langenfeld. Langenfeld pitched around three hits, holding Cal scoreless and striking out seven in four and two-thirds innings.
UCLA returns to action on Saturday afternoon with a 2 pm first pitch against Stanford.
