Stanford Drops Rubber Game to Washington, 7-0

Seattle, Wash. - The Stanford softball team dropped a 7-0 decision to the Washington Huskies at Husky SOftball Stadium in Seattletoday. Stanford gave up just five hits, but the Huskies capitalized on six hit batters and five walks to earnthe win. Stanford drops to 31-15-1 overall and 6-9-1 in the Pac-10, while Washington improves to 33-13, 10-6 Pac-10.

Stanford held the Huskies scoreless for three innings, but a fourth inning grand slam by Ashley Chartersput an end to Penna's shutout. Two hit batters and a single by AShlyn Watson loaded the bases for the Huskyshortstop, who slammed a ball over the center field wall.

Washington added three more runs in the fifth inning. Two more hit batters and a walk loaded the bases, and Watsonput one across with an infield grounder. A single up the middle by Alicia Matthews scored another run, beforeanother hit batter walked a seventh Husky run in.

Stanford had three hits in the game to the Huskies' five. Tricia Aggabao extended her hitting streak to six games,while Alissa Haber and Anna Beardman accounted for the other Cardinal hits.

Stanford returns to action tomorrow in Los Angeles, meeting the UCLA Bruins in a 2 p.m. contest at Easton Stadium.
