Washington Halts California, 5-1

Seattle - The Washington Huskies snapped California's four-game winning streak with a 5-1 win over the visiting Golden Bears at Husky Softball Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Cal (32-28, 6-12 Pac-10) returns to Berkeley for its final three home games of the season, beginning with Oregon State on May 10 at 3:00 p.m.
Lauren Greer's solo home run off of Lauren Frankiewicz in the second inning put UW (34-14, 11-7 Pac-10) up 1-0. The Huskies then tacked on three more runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to take a 5-0 lead, before Cal scored its first run in the top of the sixth. Bernice Masaniai grounded out to the first baseman with the bases loaded and one out which allowed Alex Sutton to score from third.
Washington's Danielle Lawrie was solid in the circle, allowing the one run on five hits with 10 strikeouts to earn her 23rd win of the season.
Christina Schallig went 2-for-3 for Cal in the losing effort.
