Jody Wynn Invited to Nike Coaching Convention

May 9, 2007

USC assistant coach Jody Wynn has been selected among the top assistant coaches in the nation, having been invited to a prestigious Nike-sponsored coaching convention, the Villa 7 Consortium. Wynn has served as an assistant coach under Mark Trakh for 11 seasons, and the pair have helped lead the Women of Troy for the past three seasons.

'This invitation means that Jody is considered one of the top 30 assistant coaches in the country,' Trakh said. 'Nike obviously has heard a lot about Jody and has seen her tremendous potential. It's a great honor and a networking opportunity. She is certainly deserving of this invitation and we are so proud of her.'

This is the first-ever women's Villa 7 Consortium, sponsored by Nike and held at Nike Headquarters in Beaverton, Ore. The event runs May 14-15 and is highlighted by speakers and meetings designed to help further the coaching careers of the country's best assistant coaches. Wynn and other assistant coaches will have the opportunity to interact with and hear from approximately 50 administrators and speakers as well as share drills, coaching techniques and develop many other skills centered around collegiate coaching careers.

'I am honored to have this incredible opportunity to be a part of the Villa 7 Consortium,' Wynn said. 'I look forward to learning from some of the top administrators and coaches throughout the country.'

After playing her high school career as one of Trakh's Brea High School stars, Wynn came to USC for her collegiate career where she played alongside Lisa Leslie and Tina Thompson and won a Pac-10 Championship. Following her time as a Trojan athlete, Wynn joined Trakh as his assistant at Pepperdine before Trakh and his staff came to USC in 2004. Here, Wynn has helped lead the Women of Troy to back-to-back NCAA appearances in 2005 and 2006, and to the Pac-10 Tournament semifinals all three seasons.
