Haber, Penna Selected to All-Region Team

May 18, 2007

Stanford, Calif. - Freshman Alissa Haber and sophomore Missy Penna were named to the All-Pacific Region Second Team when the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its regional awards this week. The honor was the first of both Stanford players' careers.

Haber has had an outstanding freshman campaign and currently leads the team in batting average (.369), slugging percentage (.542), on-base percentage (.460), runs (38), hits (62), doubles (13) and triples (2). The rookie has started all 54 games in center field for the Cardinal and was one of three outfielders named to the Second Team.

Penna has been one of the region's top pitchers this season, with 283 strikeouts, a 2.38 ERA and 23 wins. Penna, a sophomore, was one of three pitchers named to the Second Team.

Chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region, Haber and Penna will now be eligible for selection to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-America first, second or third teams.
