No. 1 Stanford (23-1, 8-0 Pac-10) cruised into the NCAA Tournament quarterfinal round with a convincing 4-0 shutout of No. 16 Vanderbilt on Friday afternoon in Athens, Ga. The Cardinal, searching for its fourth consecutive national championship, now will face No. 9 Miami (22-6) on Sunday afternoon with a semifinal berth on the line. Stanford, which has now won 20 in a row overall, and Miami will be meeting for the first time since the Cardinal notched a 4-1 victory in last year's national championship match at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

No. 9 Miami (22-6) is coming off a thrilling 4-3 victory over No. 8 USC in the NCAA round of 16. The Hurricanes have won five of their last six overall, with the only hiccup coming in the form of a 4-1 lost to North Carolina in the ACC Tournament. All of Miami's losses came on the road or on neutral courts. The Hurricanes were playing their best tennis during the month of March, finishing with a 9-1 record. Miami also boasts the nation's No. 1 singles player in junior Audra Cohen, who provided the clincher against USC on Friday with a 5-7, 7-5, 6-3 victory over Lindsey Nelson. The Hurricanes feature three nationally-ranked singles players (Cohen, Laura Vallverdu, Audrey Banada) and one top-20 doubles team (Cohen and Vallverdu are No. 17).

Stanford owns a 103-11 record in the postseason since the NCAA Tournament went to its present format in 1982. During that time, Stanford has won 15 of 25 possible NCAA team titles, including each of the last three seasons. The Cardinal owns an 21-match winning streak in NCAA Tournament play, dating back to its last loss against Florida in the 2003 national championship. Stanford defeated Miami 4-1 to capture last year's title.
