NCAA Women's Singles Draw Includes Five Cardinal Entrants

STANFORD, Calif.- No. 1 Stanford will once again be well-represented in the NCAA Championship singles and doubles draw, as five singles participants and one doubles team have been selected to the main field.
All five Cardinal singles players are currently ranked among the top-50. Seniors Theresa Logar (28-10, 19-5 dual) and Anne Yelsey (18-8, 16-6 dual) are included in the field, along with junior Celia Durkin (28-12, 15-6 dual), sophomore Jessica Nguyen (22-6, 11-1 dual) and freshman Lindsay Burdette (28-5, 18-2 dual).
Logar and Durkin, ranked Nos. 8 and 14 in the nation respectively, earned a No. 9-16 seed in the draw. Yelsey is currently ranked No. 17, Nguyen sits at No. 20 and Burdette moved up to No. 41.
Singles competition kicks off on Wednesday, May 23. Logar will face off against Marshall's Kellie Schmitt at 8:30 a.m., Durkin battles Eastern Michigan's Vanessa Frankowski at 10 a.m., Yelsey takes on Zuzana Zemenova of Baylor at 7 a.m., Nguyen tangles with Wisconsin's Caitlin Burke at 7:30 a.m. and Burdette hooks up with Clemson's Ani Mijacika at 6 a.m. All times are PDT.
In doubles, Stanford's top team of Burdette and Yelsey was selected. The duo is currently ranked No. 21 in the nation and owns an overall record of 21-7 and dual match mark of 15-4. Burdette and Yelsey will match up against Miami's Audra Cohen and Laura Vallverdu when doubles competition begins on Thursday.
The Cardinal's second team of Durkin and Nguyen was named the sixth alternate. Durkin and Nguyen are ranked No. 42 in the country.
