Senior Lauren Todd led the Stanford charge today, as she fired a two-under 70 today and sits tied for second overall with Duke's Amanda Blumenherst despite windy afternoon conditions.
'It was a tidy round,' said Todd. 'I hit a lot of fairways and wasn't in trouble off the tee at all. I hit 13 or 14 greens, got up and down twice, just four birdies and two bogeys. I got every putt to the hole and gave myself a lot of opportunities. It was just a really easy 70.
'It was great,' she continued. 'My goal for the day - I thought scores were going to be really low - so I kept telling myself to get another birdie and another birdie. I just wanted to be in contention, put myself in contention. The previous three nationals, I kind of blew it out of the water on the first day, so the last three were just try to finish well. I wanted to give myself a chance this time. I'm happy with it.'
Junior Mari Chun along with teammate Catherina Wang recorded a four over par 76 this afternoon and sit tied for 39th. Senior Jennifer Tangtiphaiboontana is tied for 53rd on the individual leaderboard at five over 77. Rounding out the Cardinal competitors is freshman Angela King who is tied for 95th at eight-over 80.
