Sophomore Matt Bruch was unable to take the court today at the NCAA Doubles competition in Athens, GA., and was forced to withdraw from the tournament. Bruch, who injured his right ankle in yesterday's singles match, and teammate Blake Muller entered the tournament ranked No. 12 in the country.
Bruch was trailing 2-1 in the first set of yesterday's opening round at the NCAA Singles competition when he rolled his ankle. He tried to continue the match, but was forced to retire at 4-1 in the first set.
'He just didn't have much range of motion' said head coach John Whitlinger. 'We didn't even get on the court.'
Bruch and Muller finished the season 16-3 after winning the Pac-10 doubles title.
