Four Cougar Rowers Receive Academic Honors

PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University rower Carey Homan was named ESPN The Magazine District VIII First Team All-Academic for the Women's At-Large University Division, Thursday. The honor is voted upon by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
A native of Deer Park, Wash., Homan is the first Cougar to be selected to the CoSIDA Women's At-Large District VIII First Team since Erica Perkins, a WSU tennis standout, received the honor in 2002. Sports eligible for the at-large team are bowling, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, rowing, skiing, swimming, tennis, and water polo. A member of the WSU varsity eight boat ranked as high as No. 8 nationally in 2006-07, Homan completed her master's in accounting with a 3.87 grade point average.
Rodriguez garnered the CRCA award for the second straight year while Gibson, Homan and Watt are first time recipients. Rodriguez is a junior from Richland, Australia with a 3.57 GPA in marketing. Gibson, a senior from Vancouver, Wash., earned a 3.78 GPA in communication. Watt, a senior from North Vancouver, British Columbia, posted a 3.52 GPA in zoology.
