LOS ANGELES - The No. 26 UCLA baseball team lost the second contest of a three-game Pac-10 series to No. 23 Oregon State, 13-5, Saturday afternoon before a capacity crowd at Jackie Robinson Stadium. Senior first baseman Tim Stewart led UCLA's offense, hitting 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs and a season-best four RBI.

UCLA (29-26, 13-10 Pac-10) led 2-0 after Stewart's RBI-double to right and a run-scoring single by center fielder Brady Dolan, before Oregon State (38-16, 10-13 Pac-10) pulled away with 12 runs in a five-inning span.

Shortstop Darwin Barney led Oregon State offensively, finishing 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Center fielder Chris Hopkins hit 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs for the visiting Beavers.

Left-hander Tim Murphy (4-4) absorbed the loss, surrendering eight runs (five earned) and six hits in 4 2/3 innings. Oregon State southpaw Joe Paterson (7-6) limited UCLA to five runs and six hits through 7 1/3 innings.

Trailing 2-0, Oregon State tied the contest in the third with a two-run home run by Barney. Oregon State assumed a three-run lead on a two-error play in the fourth inning before adding one more run with an RBI-double. The Beavers took advantage of three walks and two base-hits to scored three runs in the fifth inning. Second baseman Joey Wong's RBI-single brought home Oregon State its 10th run of the afternoon.

The Bruins cut Oregon State's lead in half, 10-5, on a three-run home run to left field by Stewart.

The Beavers added two more runs in the top of the seventh on a two-run homer by designated hitter Jason Ogata and scored once in the ninth on an RBI-groundout.

UCLA and Oregon State conclude their series Sunday at 12 p.m. Seven Bruins will be honored prior to the game as part of 'Senior Day' festivities.

Game Notes: In the first at-bat of his first game back since injuring his hand at USC, Tim Stewart belted an RBI-double off the right field wall...Brady Dolan notched his fifth multi-hit game of the season...the series loss to Oregon State marked the first three-game series UCLA dropped at Jackie Robinson Stadium since May 2005...UCLA remains one game ahead of California in third place in the Pac-10 standings.
