Five Cardinal Players Named to Pac-10 All-Academic Teams

Five Stanford players were among the 31 student-athletes named to Pac-10 Softball All-Academic teams, when the conference announced its 2007 selections today. Junior pitcher Becky McCullough was named to the First Team, while Tricia Aggabao, Jackie Rinehart and Missy Penna were Second Team selections. Junior Michelle Smith earned Honorable Mention.

McCullough earned her second conference academic honor, after receiving Honorable Mention last season. Rinehart was a Second Team selection for the third consecutive season, while Aggabao and Smith were honored for the second time of their careers. Penna, a sophomore, was a first-time honoree. Penna and Rinehart were among six conference players to be honored on both an All-Conference and All-Academic First or Second Team.

Stanford now has 69 all-time Pac-10 All-Academic honors. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student- ?athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be ?either a starter or significant contributor.
