Stanford Maintains Lead At NCAA Championships

Williamsburg, Va. - The nationally ranked Stanford men's golf team holds a one-shot lead over Minnesota after two rounds of the 2007 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships at the par 70, 6,808-yard Golden Horseshoe Golf Club. The championships are being hosted by Virginia Commonwealth University.

After shooting five-under 275 on Day One, the Cardinal followed with atwo-under 278 for a two-day total of seven-under 553. The Golden Gophersshot four-under 276 on Thursday to climb within one of the lead atsix-under 554. Coastal Carolina is in third place at two-under 558 after asecond round of one-over 281. East Tennessee State shot even-par 280 forthe second consecutive day for a total of even-par 560.

Georgia Tech had the best team score on Day 2 with a five-under 275 toclimb from a tie for 20th place to a tie for sixth at three-over 263.

Junior Rob Grube is currently tied for third in the individual standings with a five-under 135 (64-71). Senior Zack Miller moved up from 29th into a tie for 14th overall after carding a one-under 69 this afternoon. His two day total is one-under 139 (70-69).

Sophomore Daniel Lim enters the third round tied for 29th overall with a one-over 141 (69-72) while senior Matt Savage is tied for 44th at two-over 142 (72-70).

Minnesota's Bronson LaCassie (Brisbane, Australia) leads the individualstandings at eight-under 132 after shooting five-under 65 on Thursday.Sophomore Jon Curran (Hopkinton, Mass.) is two strokes behind at six-under134 after shooting six-under 64. Freshman Joseph Bramlett rebounded from yesterday's difficult round to post a two-under 68 today. He is currently tied for 102nd with a 146 (78-68).

All 30 teams and six individuals will compete in the third round on Friday,June 1, beginning at 7 a.m. Cuts will be made following Friday's action forSaturday's final round, to include the top 15 teams and top six individualsnot on those 15 teams.
