Chu, Slovic Named First Team Pac-10 All-Academic

Walnut Creek, Calif. - Seniors Daniel Chu and Alex Slovic led a group of five Huskies named to the Pac-10 All-Academic Team, announced Friday by conference commissioner Tom Hanson. Chu and Slovic each earned first team recognition, while junior Andy Kuharszky earned second team honors and senior Michael Ricks and sophomore Patrik Fischer were honorable mention.
Chu (Vancouver, B.C.) earned first team recognition for the third time in his career. He is just the second Husky to earn first team honors in three seasons during their career (Alex Vlaski, 2003-05).
Slovic (Pancevo, Yugoslavia) was recognized for academic excellence also for the third time. He was a second team selection in 2005 and a first team choice in 2006. Slovic and Chu are each one of nine Huskies to earn Pac-10 Al-Academic honors three times in their career.
Kuharszky (Budapest, Hungary) earned his second All-Academic nod. He was a first team selection in 2006.
Ricks (Orinda, Calif.) and Fischer (Huttwil, Switzerland) each earned their first recognitions of their Husky careers.
