Hackett To Play For Italian National Basketball Team

USC guard Daniel Hackett has been selected to play for the Italian National Basketball Team which begins play on Saturday (June 2) in a series of 'friendlies' against Croatia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia announced Italy coach Carlo Recalcati.
Hackett will compete with the National Team through its first two camps (May 28-June 2 in Bari, Italy and June 3-6 in Porto San Giorgio, Italy) and then join the 20-and-under Italian National Team on June 20th and play for them` through July 19.
Hackett averaged 5.3 points and 2.9 rebounds in 37 games, including 16 starts, as a freshman this past season for USC. He was second for the Trojans in assists with 103 and second in free throw shooting with a .792 percentage.
The 6-5 guard had one of his best games for the Trojans during its second-round, 87-68, victory over Kevin Durant and Texas in the NCAA Tournament, scoring 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting.
In preparations for EuroBasket 2007, Recalcati will call up the majority of his club that played at the FIBA World Championship in Japan later this summer.
Italy is in Group D of EuroBasket and will play in Spain against Slovenia, France and Poland.
