The USC men's and women's swimming and diving teams each combined for the highest team GPAs among Trojan men's and women's sports for the 2006-2007 academic school year.
Earlier this year, both squads were honored by the Pac-10 with numerous conference All-Academic honors.
Trojan swimmers Greg Barone, Richard Gosper and Connor Hall were named Pac-10 All-Academic first teamers, headlining a group of 15 USC men's and women's swimmers and divers that received conference academic honors.
Hall earned first team honors for the third straight year with a 3.64 GPA in Biomedical Engineering. Barone, a second teamer last year, earned a first team nod with a 3.60 in communications. Gosper is a first-time first teamer with a 3.53 in business administration.
Sophomores Vanni Mangoni and Kazu Miyahara were named to the second team, a first for both. On the women's side, juniors Emily Goetsch and Ali Tycast and sophomore Katy Houston all earned second team honors. Tycast was a second teamer last year and Goetsch was an honorable mention pick.
Seven women's swimmers and divers received honorable mention honors this year. They were senior Kristina Sieper (third time), juniors Brittany Allen (second), Dee Devlin, Ali Hartwell, Kathryn Lewallen (second team last year) and Kate Polich (second time) and sophomore Maryann Hiller.
