BERKELEY - California midfielder Andrew Jacobson was the only college player to earn a spot at a U.S. national futsal team training camp that will take place June 10-16 in Spain. Jacobson, a junior during the Golden Bears' 2006 season last fall, is one of 16 players on the roster and is vying for a spot on the U.S. team that will compete in the Pan American Games this July in Brazil.
U.S. coach Keith Tozer will train his team in Cordoba and Jaen, Spain. The United States will also play two games against the Spanish national team, with the first match scheduled for June 13 in Cordoba and the second slated for June 15 in Jaen.
Jacobson is one of nine players on the current roster who attended the previous U.S. training camp last month in Brazil, where the host nation defeated the United States in two exhibitions.
The Palo Alto, Calif., product started all 20 games for Cal last season, when he scored three goals, two assists and eight points. He earned All-Pac-10 first-team honors last fall and as a sophomore in 2005.
