June 5, 2007
Stanford, Calif. - Stanford freshmen Kelley O'Hara and Alicia Jenkins have been named to the U-20 Women's National Team training roster, and will head to Maryland next week for the team's final training camp before the 2007 Pan-American Games in Brazil.
O'Hara is one of three players on the squad who competed in the 2006 U-20 Women's World Cup in Russia last summer and was among the 32 players selected to the full National Team training roster in March. Jenkins makes her second appearance with the U-20 squad after traveling to England with the team last month.
O'Hara was a 2006 All-Pac-10 First Team selection, an All-Pac-10 Freshman selection and was the team's leading scorer with nine goals during her rookie season. Jenkins, also a 2006 All-Pac-10 Freshman selection, started all 23 games for the Cardinal last fall and was one of the most versatile players in the line-up, making appearances at all three field positions.
U-20 WNT Head Coach Jillian Ellis selected 24 players for next week's eight-day camp, which will run from June 9-16. While in Maryland, the U-20s will take on the Virginia Majestics on June 12 and face the Washington Freedom on June 14.
The Pan-Am games will be held in Rio de Janeiro from July 12-26 and will feature two groups of five teams each with Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, Canada, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama and the USA participating on the women's side.
