June 7, 2007

SEATTLE-- Five Washington softball players were named to the Pac-10 All-Academic teams, including senior Jacki Hansen to the first team and junior Caitlin Noble to the second team. Senior Dominique Lastrapes and sophomores Marnie Koziol and Ashlyn Watson were each named to the honorable mention team.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.

Hansen was Washington's starting centerfielder this season and boasts a team-best 3.72 GPA in Political Science. She concluded her Husky career as a three-year starter in the outfield.

Noble was part of Washington's one-two punch in the pitching circle and maintains a 3.41 GPA in History. She was a National Strength and Condition Association All-American and an Academic All-District XIII second team honoree. Noble averages 9.1 strikeouts per seven innings over her career, which ranks 35th on the NCAA all-time list and is just the fifth player in UW history to amass 600 career strikeouts.

Koziol, Lastrapes and Watson each had 3.0 GPAs or better and were starters for the Huskies. Koziol was the starting left fielder, Lastrapes started at second base and Watson served as the starting designated player.
