Three Sun Devils Taken In MLB Draft's First Day

TEMPE, Ariz. - Three members of the Arizona State baseball team were selected during the first day of the annual Major League Baseball draft on Thursday. The draft continues on Friday.
Eric Sogard was the first Sun Devil chosen, going the second round, 81st overall, to the San Diego Padres. Sogard was named the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year and eanred All-American status from Collegiate Baseball.
Matt Spencer went to the Philadelphia Phillies in the third round, 113th overall. Spencer earned All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention honors.
Andrew Romine was selected by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the fifth round, 178th overall. Romine earned All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention honors this season as well.
