Stanford Athletes Record Top Finishes At USA Track And Field Outdoor Championships

Several Stanford athletes posted outstanding finishes at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Michael Robertson, Erica McLain, Arianna Lambie, and Russell Brown represented the Cardinal at the competition in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Robertson took the title in the discus as he posted a tremendous mark of 210-01 (64.04m) to earn the gold medal. Robertson was trailing heading into the fifth of six rounds, when he managed to get off his winning throw. No other competitor was able to better his mark in the final round, leaving Robertson standing as the victor.
McLain captured third place in the triple jump with her leap of 44-06 ¼ (13.57m). She only posted marks in two of the six rounds, but was able to get put forth a solid jump in the fourth round to earn the bronze medal. Shani Marks took the gold as she recorded a mark of 46-02 ½ (14.08m).
Lambie recorded a fifth place finish in the 5000 meters as she posted a time of 15:38.83. Shalane Flanagan of Nike earned the victory as she finished in a time of 14:51.75.
Brown earned a seventh place finish in the 1500 meters with his time of 3:41.80. Alan Webb of Nike took the top spot as he broke the meet record, posting a time of 3:34.82.
