June 27, 2007

PULLMAN, Wash. -- Five current Washington State University women soccer players are set to compete at the US Youth Soccer National Championships at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas, July 24-29, 2007.

WSU sophomores Jenny Christoph, Kiersten Dallstream, Mallory Fox, Maggie Dougher and Carly Dobratz are members of the Sereno '88 Girls White team based in Arizona that won the Region IV (West) Championship last week at Betty Wilson Soccer Complex and Kellogg Zaher Sports Complex in Las Vegas, Nev.

As freshmen in the 2006 season, Dallstream, a forward, and Dobratz, a midfielder, each had a team-high three goals for the Cougars.

The US Youth Soccer National Championships cap a year-long series of multiple age bracket competitions as teams earn their way from the top teams in their state to the regional championship tournaments. US Youth Soccer State Champions and selected wildcard teams through US Youth Soccer Regional Leagues in most age groups are eligible to compete in one of four US Youth Soccer Regional Championships. The champions in the Under-14 through Under-19 age brackets from each regional event will converge on Frisco next month to compete at the world-class facilities among the nation's top competition.
