Second Day of Thunderstorms Suspends U.S. Women's Open

June 29, 2007

Former UCLA All-American Jane Park and incoming freshman Maria Jose Uribe were among 25 players to finish the second round Friday at the 62nd U.S. Women's Open at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club in Southern Pines, NC.

Park was tied for 82nd place at six-over par 148 following a 75 on Friday, and Uribe was tied for 120th at 152 (+10) after posting a second round score of 74 (+3).

Severe thunderstorms forced the suspension of the second round.

Professionals Charlotte Mayorkas and Mo Martin never teed off on Friday. After Thursday's first round, Mayorkas was tied for second at one-under par 70, and Martin was tied for 82nd at five-over par 76.

Other Bruins still on the course when the air horn halted play were Guilia Sergas, who was tied for 102nd at eight-over par through 16 holes, Amie Cochran, who was tied for 112th at nine-over par through 13 holes, and sophomore Sydnee Michaels, who was tied for 120th at 10-over par with five holes to play.

The projected cut was expected to be at seven-over par 149.
