Vandenberg Wins 200m Fly Crown at Santa Clara Invitational

Former Bruin Kim Vandenberg highlighted the UCLA competitors at the Santa Clara Invitational over the weekend as she defended her 200m Butterfly crown from last year's meet. Vandenberg won in a time of 2:09.00 as she competed in six events throughout the three-day competition.

Vandenberg also finished ninth in the 100m Fly in a time of 1:01.72, 12th in the 200 Free (2:02.32), 24th in the 400 Free (4:20.75), 29th in the 50 Free (26.28) and 31st in the 100 Free (57.95).

Highlighting the current Bruins competing over the weekend were Anna Poteete, Nicolette Teo and Isabel Fischer as all swam in the finals of their respective events.

Poteete was the highest finisher for the Bruins with her 15th-place showing in the 50 Free (26.84). Teo was 23rd in the 200 Breast (2:37.95) and Isabel Fischer was 24th in the 100 Back (1:05.37) and 27th in the 200 Back (2:24.65).

The Bruins will next compete at the Janet Evans Invitational beginning on July 12.
