Robinson Wins PanAm Junior Shot Put Crown
July 6, 2007
Sophomore Nick Robinson won the first international title of his career on Friday as he won the shot put competition at the PanAm Junior Championships in Sao Paolo, Brazil.
Robinson's winning mark of 61-0.25 was nearly a foot better then the silver medal finisher (Raymond Brown, Jamaica - 60-1.75). In six throws of competition, Robinson posted marks of 59-4.75, 58-6.75, 59-5.50, with his winning throw coming on his second-to-last try. He fouled his fourth and sixth attempts during the competition.
This was Robinson's second stint on the U.S. junior team as he traveled to Beijing, China last summer for the World Junior Championships to compete in the discus (he finished 10th overall at that meet).
