Vandenberg Wins Again at Janet Evans Invitational

Former Bruin Kim Vandenberg won her signature event, the 200 Butterfly, over the weekend at the Janet Evans Invitational. Vandenberg competed in numerous events as she swam in the finals for five different races.
She won the 200 Fly event in a time of 2:08.02 and was third in the 100 Fly in a time of 59.67. In the 200 Free (2:01.82) and 400 Free (4:17.13) she placed ninth and was 15th in the 50 Free (26.63).
Several current Bruins also performed well at the meet with several swimming in event finals. Nicolette Teo was the highest-placing current Bruin with her fifth-place finish in the 100 Breast (1:11.07). Teo also finished 10th in the 200 Breast (2:35.77). Chiemi Yamamoto was 20th in the 400 IM (5:00.29) and in the 50 Free, Anna Poteete was 21st in a time of 26.86.
Incoming frosh Samantha VandenBerge, who was competing with her club team (Swim Pasadena), won the 1500m race in a time of 16:51.53.
